As expected, Jun Lozada was arrested for “lying” on a perjury case filed against him by former presidential chief of staff Michael Defensor. Even if former president Cory Aquino asked for people power to ward off the impending arrest last week, the NBN-ZTE deal controversy witness was arrested from his safehouse at the De La Salle Greenhills, San Juan City.

“It hurts because of all the cases filed against me, I will be arrested for lying,” Lozada said. He further added that of all the “liars” involved in the scam he was the only one ordered arrested. Is this the prize for telling the truth, nothing but the truth? Nevertheless Lozada said he has no regrets although he was not prepared for the arrest. He was only worried that his children’s sense of justice had been “completely shattered” by the arrest order.

God Rewards those who Seek the Truth

Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

(Psalms 25:4-5)

It takes a lot of courage, not to mention the inconvenience, of pursuing the truth. People get hurt in the process. But it pays all the patience and sacrifices for one who seeks for the truth. Truth does not only set us free (John 8:32), it brings us also to the fold of salvation (Psalms 25: 4-5).

George Washington himself said, “There is but one straight course, and that is to seek truth and pursue it steadily.” No doubt Jun Lozada has taken the straight but steady course in his crusade for justice and truth. He sacrificed himself and the future of his family for a greater purpose, to restore the honor and dignity of his country. For those who got hurt in his crusade, the more he suffers the better.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.  And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.  But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God” (John 3:18-21).

Be an Instrument of God’s Truth

In a highly corrupted society, seeking what is truthful is every Christian’s concern. While we know the truth, letting evil prosper runs counter to our Christian values and principles as a believer. Be an instrument of God’s truth, let evil doers and corrupt leaders in the society be told of their deeds. There should be no let up. As people learns and know the truth, let them act against corruption and injustices.

Christians should be compassionate as people of God, but Christians should be in the front line as well in the battle against corruption and injustices.

Seek the Truth

Life is a circle with no beginning and no end,

And somewhere on the inside the truth will wait content.

You navigate your ship through waters rough and wide,

The miracle of life, always sparkling bright inside.

Your direction and your speed as only you see fit,

With God’s hand guiding you, your way there He will lit.

Maybe you will wonder, why your search continues on,

But none of us is separate, yes indeed we are all one.

Seek the truth always with love in heart and mind,

Cause that’s the most important thing, you know you’ll ever find
