For a few weeks I thought of giving up blogging when my old computer malfunctioned and I did not know what to do. I got upset. I have some files there that I could no longer retrieve; too bad I did not have a hard or soft copies of those files. I relied on what technology can do to keep my important documents but technology has also its own limitations. Probably that’s the reason why man had devised research as a means of exploring knowledge useful to life.
Fortunately my carpenter friend has a son who is about to complete his computer technology course who came to me rescue. I had already prepared myself to what he would suggest as expected–to change my computer. But to my surprise he told me it’s a minor computer repair job; there’s only a part which need to be replaced. My computer is still useful, how about that? All that was needed was to replace the memory probably with a higher one. Isn’t that going to be expensive? Again to my relief he did it without buying any single part. His friend had just upgraded his PC and gave him the discarded but still useful parts including the memory.
Well I can not talk about computer hardwares and systems for I did not bother to learn about these things (computer repairs, programming, etc.); It was enough that I know how to open it and shut it down, surfing the internet, using some softwares, and of course blogging. I am not yet using Facebook and Twitter. Truly I have a lot of things to learn which I refused to do. Similarly I did not upgrade, if I may use the term, my medical practice. I am contended being an ordinary doctor attending to the health needs of the poor. I could have done better than that (and may be richer).
This is the reason why I am back to blogging again, thanks to that young computer student who helped me restore my old (but still useful) computer. Don’t worry, I now have a back up computer. I have a laptop (an again an old one) my wife joyfully gave me when she bought a brand new “notebook” for herself.
Sorry for not updating my post lately, I know many of you my dear friends got disappointed. But happy days, as they say it, are here again.
To close this post I would like to say something about “memories.” Yes, we treasure memories of the past specially the pleasant and exciting events that we experienced in the past. They keep on coming back to our minds. On the other hand there are painful memories too that need to to deleted in the same manner as there are uselesss files that should be confined to the recycle bin. Sometimes there are still spams in our heart that should be deleted otherwise they keep on opening the wounds that should have healed long ago in our heart.
As our Lord Jesus Christ said in the “Lord’s Prayer”:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
(Matt. 6: 9-13)
Like an old PC, our life can also be transformed if we allow God to upgrade
or ways. Our systems of values an attitude that have been corrupted by the viruses of sins need to be refined so we can do the just and the right things in our dealings with God and men. We do this not to harness our own popularity but to glorify the Lord.
But of course, in doing the right thing there’s only one model to show us the way and follow–GOD. We can not use people as our models, we have our own peculiar ways which only God can harness. God has given us the potential to do the good things, exercise love and compassion, and to be productive. Why don’t we accentuate the positive and be happy?
When God upgrades our memory and OS (Operating Spirituality), we are not only a renewed being we become God’s blessings and Glory to others. We work faster, more accurate, and “others friendly.” As we are blessed we become more productive; and life has never been that meaningful and fulfilling. Similarly, God wants us to remember joy not pains, forgiveness not hatred, and love not selfishness and denial.
Do the right thing, do God’s way!
